Just right for a holiday break in France and not that far from the UK and Ireland. A reasonable run in the car to tackle easily in a day and with time to spare.

The Loire Valley is steeped in culture and history and was known as 'The playground of the Kings'. Many magnificent castles were built along the Loire river for the Kings and Dukes of France. Many towns, with their fairytale chateaux and beautiful white limestone buLoire valley le Puy Notre Dameildings, are quite magical.

It is no surprise that the Loire valley is a UNESCO world heritage site.  Within the Loire Anjou natural regional park surrounding Manoir de Gourin the glorious countryside is unspoilt, with an abundance of charming villages and towns.

Known as the Garden of France, due to its fertile soil and temperate climate, the region is used extensively for arable farming with fields Loire valley Chateau de Villandryof golden sunflowers alongside the vineyards and roses. Our local town of Doue la Fontaine is the centre of rose production in France and has obvious appeal for keen gardeners.

Naturally being a wine making region, the third largest in France and having 29 appellations within a relatively small area there are many vineyards to explore and diverse wines to taste. A great place for wine enthusiasts.

The many chateaux, abbeys, churches and other historical buildings ensure some fantastic sightseeing. The region has so much to offer walkers, cyclists, gardeners, fishermen, bird watchers  horse lovers and wine lovers. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
